Quick answer: Start with a free listing – it is enough to appear on Google and in directory search. Upgrade to a paid (premium or featured) listing when you are in a competitive category such as restaurants, real estate, schools or clinics in Dhaka, and you want to appear above competitors on category and area pages. On BDTalika paid listings are always shown before free ones.
What a free listing gives you
- Your own business page with address, phone, map and photos.
- Inclusion in category, city and area pages.
- Google indexing of your listing page.
- Customer reviews and enquiries.
What a paid listing adds
- Priority placement: paid plans are sorted first on every category and location page (lifetime, then monthly, then yearly, then free).
- More visibility: featured badges and placement in more places on the site.
- Extra features depending on the plan – see current BDTalika pricing plans.
When paid makes sense
| Situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Few competitors in your category and area | Free is usually enough |
| 20+ competitors on your category page (e.g. Restaurants in Dhaka) | Paid, to stay on the first screen |
| High-value customers (real estate, hospitals, schools, lawyers) | Paid – one extra client covers the cost |
| Brand-new business without reviews | Free first, collect reviews, then upgrade |
How to measure if it works
- Note your monthly listing views, calls and enquiries before upgrading (see the analytics section of your BDTalika dashboard).
- Upgrade for at least two months.
- Compare views, clicks on phone/WhatsApp and enquiries. Ask new customers where they found you.
Paid directory listing vs Facebook or Google ads
Ads stop the moment you stop paying. A directory listing keeps working because the page stays indexed on Google and keeps collecting reviews. Many Bangladeshi small businesses combine a low-cost paid listing with occasional Facebook boosts.
