2026-01-04I visited NIDCH yesterday to get three test done. Sputum for AFB, GenExpert and Culture and sensitivity (C/S). If you want to get test avised by the doctors outside of this hospital done firstly you have to buy outdoor ticket and then pay bill. After that you have to go to the lab to give specimen. But for first two test need not to buy ticket because these are completely free. However the behavior of the staff is not so good.

2025-01-28Recently, visited National Institute of Chest Disease, Mohakhali for Donating blood for a patient of my colleague. Here, I'm mentioning what I've observed - # First of all this is a government facilitated hospital so you'll not get top notch services from here. For example, the cleanliness, the food, the maintenance, service doctor, clean and well toilet, fully clear bedsheet etc are kinda difficult to find. Only the thing you'll get here is - the service cost or OT cost is comparatively lower than other private hospitals. # Experience on Blood donation: I've donated blood for the 7th time previously and this was my 8th time. The phlebotomist (Who collected blood) was a very rude and kinda awkward person. He said he has 25 years of experience but really still he is unskilled and unprofessional. He couldn’t find my vain first. Then after sometime he inserted a needle but blood came outside of the needle. There was no machine for keeping the blood movement active. Besides, he didn’t untie my arm when my blood flow started causing a sudden stop of blood flow. After that I asked him for the 2nd try. Again he inserted the needle and kept it moving inside of my vein. Not only that, He didn’t untie my arm like the previous, causing lower blood flow and suddenly it stopped. Around 260 ML blood git wastage. # Cross matching: He didn't use any butterfly or injection to take blood for cross match. He just took a needle from a syringe and pinched it to a finger to take blood. As well as other than group mapping he didn't check any other parameters. # Mosquito: Other than rude behavior and blunder of blood donation, what I found is, the place is covered with mosquitoes and other things. Even when I was donating blood, mosquitoes bites me. There were no adequate options like coil, aerosol, electric bat, electric light for this. # Cleanness: Inside the hospital corridor, I found many small dogs roaming here and there. Especially where they dump the uncleaned food plates. The toilets were also not clean. The bedsheet on which I laid down for donating blood was very dirty. In total I had a bad experience here. I will not recommend it to anyone here.

2024-04-23National Chest Hospital. All types of breathing problems, asthma, COPD and TB patients are also treated here. Free TB medicines are provided. There is a micro Honda parking zone here. There is no charge for parking.

2025-10-21This is one of the worst and most terrible hospitals I have ever seen in my life. Almost every staff member here only asks for money. Even when visiting a doctor by paying the official ticket fee, the on-duty female staff demand an additional 50–200 taka. The behavior of the doctors is also not very good. Due to the lack of proper and quality treatment, many patients die, which is extremely tragic. Many patients don’t get a bed or cabin (the hospital authorities claim there are none available) and are forced to stay on the floor or outside the hospital. However, if someone gives a bribe of around 7,000–10,000 taka to the on-duty Ansar members, they instantly arrange a cabin. The most disappointing thing is that there is no effective system for filing complaints against such corruption. Even when you ask the doctors about the patient’s condition or the next course of treatment, they don’t say anything. Honestly, the service quality of a sub-district (Upazila) government hospital is far better than this one.

2024-12-22A horribly managed government hospital. I wouldn't recommend people to go to this place. Very unhygienic, dirty, and ill managed. Even doctors are aggressive, arrogant and rude in your face as most of the people visiting are from rural areas of the country.
