The French International School of Dhaka was created in 1987, located in the Baridhara diplomatic zone and built on the grounds of the French Embassy. It is close to the residential areas where most foreigners live.
Its primary mission is to provide children of French or foreign nationals who are temporarily or permanently settled in Bangladesh, education in accordance with the official programs of the Ministry of National Education in France. These programs provide children with the opportunity to pursue a school curriculum in France, in all public or private educational institutions under contract, and in all other French schools abroad.
It is headed by a French director seconded from the Ministry of National Education. The school is inspected annually by a National Education Inspector based in Abu Dhabi.
It is a school of private law, non-profit, contracted with the AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad), it is one of the 620 French establishments abroad of the network of the AEFE .It is under the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
EFID is run by an association of parents of students under a law of 1901. The association is run by a Board of Directors (CA) acting on its behalf to define the policy and management of the school.
A school council (EC), chaired by the Director, sets the rules of procedure and defines the educational project of the school.
