About the Business

Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital began as a charitable dispensary founded by the late Mr. M. A. Ispahani, an industrialist and philanthropist. It then developed into an eye hospital in 1960, the first of its kind in Bangladesh, and has always been a non-profit organization.
Apart from its basic ophthalmic services, it also pioneered various tertiary ophthalmic super-specialties. At the same time, Islamia Eye Hospital, as it was then known, started providing training to increase the human resource capacity for ophthalmic services in Bangladesh.

From this concept, the M. A. Ispahani Institute of Ophthalmology was established as a sister organization in 1992 to teach advanced ophthalmology to ophthalmic surgeons, as well as to paramedics and nurses. Over the years, Islamia has established itself as a leading ophthalmic organization in Bangladesh for providing specialized services and training courses.

A recent development of Islamia has been the establishment of three branch hospitals in remote districts of Bangladesh (Jamalpur, Barisal, and Naogaon) under a project entitled “Creating Access to Eye Care Services for Rural People”. This project was initiated and has been supported by ORBIS International.

I recently visited the Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital and was thoroughly impressed with the level of care and professionalism exhibited by the entire staff. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and offers a comprehensive range of ophthalmic services. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with kindness and respect. The doctors are highly knowledgeable and took the time to explain my condition and the treatment options available. The nursing staff was attentive and compassionate, making sure I felt comfortable throughout my visit. What stood out to me was their commitment to patient care and community service. The hospital not only provides top-notch medical services but also engages in various outreach programs to help underserved communities. This dedication to making eye care accessible to all is truly commendable. I highly recommend the Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital for anyone seeking quality eye care in Bangladesh. Their expertise, coupled with a genuine care for patients, sets them apart as a leading eye care institution.

I think it’s one of the best eye hospitals in Bangladesh. In addition the hospital runs by a trust and partially depends on outsourcing funds, which makes it a the low-cost eye treatment centre. You can consult with a doctor for a fee of 50 tk only! The registrarion process might be annoying to some people i guess becasue patient needs to go through a long queue to buy a ticket (took me an hour to buy a ticket) But the hospital maintains a very good discipline 👍 The optometrists are really good, they go through every detail of the checkup and then refer to a doctor. If you are planning to pay a visit, my recommendations are- Keep maximum time in your hand (probably an hour or two; Do not buy optical lens or frames from the store inside the hospital premises (They charge more than two thousand taka for a bluecut lens which you can buy for 500 from outside) Do not give up on the registration process; This is not a private hospital, it runs by charity so a lot of patient from different classes and different part of the country come here. So behave responsibly. Thank you.

A place having the mentality to serve general people with good behaviour, nice environment and standard service. It should be an example to other hospitals. This hospital is fully based on eye treatment. All the staffs are so cooperative.
